Robert Lewandowski ‘open to Chelsea move if Barcelona deal falls through’

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski would reportedly be open to joining either Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain if his preferred move to Barcelona falls through.
The 33-year-old has made it clear that he wants to leave the Bundesliga giants this summer after eight trophy-laden years in Germany, scoring 344 goals in 375 appearances across all competitions.

Barca president Joan Laporta recently revealed to the media that the club had tabled an opening offer for Lewandowski which was quickly rebuffed by Bayern, and the Catalan outfit are allegedly planning to make an improved bid of €50m (£42m).

Should Barca’s deal for Lewandowski fail to materialise, however, Bild journalist Christian Falk claims that both Chelsea and PSG will enter the race for his signature and a move to Stamford Bridge would be the striker’s preferred destination if he is unable to move to Camp Nou.

Thomas Tuchel’s side, who are understood to have made contact with the Poland international’s representatives, are on the lookout for a new centre-forward, following the temporary departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

Despite Barcelona’s financial concerns, they are hoping to recruit both Lewandowski and Leeds United attacker Raphinha, the latter of whom is valued at £60m by the Premier League club.
