Sadio Mane ends drought as Bayern Munich return to winning ways

Bayern Munich have ended a four-match winless streak in the league with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over struggling Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena this evening.
Goals from Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Sadio Mane ensured that the result was beyond doubt within 40 minutes before Thomas Muller added a fourth late on, as the defending champions hit the ground running after the international break.

Mane’s strike saw him end a five-game drought with his first home goal since joining the club from Liverpool in the summer, while the winger also had a goal disallowed in the second half.

Musiala continued his devastating start to the season with Bayern’s second after 17 minutes, before Mane opened his Allianz Arena account shortly before half time.

Leverkusen’s best moment came when Amine Adli was denied by a stunning Manuel Neuer save, but the visitors never looked like getting their way back into the match as their winless run in the league extended to four games.

Muller piled further misery on them late on when he pounced on Lukas Hradecky’s error to add a fourth, leaving Leverkusen now in the relegation playoff spot with only five points from eight games.

Both teams will now turn their attentions back to the Champions League, with Bayern facing Viktoria Plzen and Leverkusen taking on Porto.
