Carlo Ancelotti ‘approves Real Madrid move for Raheem Sterling’

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly approved the signing of Raheem Sterling, with Los Blancos planning to make an attempt to bring the Manchester City attacker to Bernabeu.
The 27-year-old was again an important player for the Citizens during the 2021-22 campaign, making 47 appearances in all competitions, contributing 17 goals and nine assists in the process.

Sterling’s contract at Etihad Stadium is due to expire next June, though, and there has recently been speculation surrounding his future in Manchester.

Chelsea have allegedly already failed with a £21.4m offer plus add-ons for the England international, with Man City thought to want upwards of £55m for the attacker this summer.

Barcelona and AC Milan have also been credited with an interest, while recent reports have linked Real Madrid with the former Queens Park Rangers youngster.

Real Madrid have already completed the signings of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni, with the former arriving on a free transfer from Chelsea, while the latter has joined in a big-money deal from Monaco.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez recently said that there would be no further signings at Bernabeu this summer.

However, the club were prepared to commit to a huge deal for Kylian Mbappe before the France international decided to sign a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain.

Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema, Rodrygo and Eden Hazard are all staying at the club this summer, but Ancelotti’s attacking options could be weakened by the possible departures of Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz and Luka Jovic.

Gareth Bale and Isco have already left Los Blancos on free transfers this summer, while Marcelo has also departed, and the exits will see the club make savings on their wage bill.

End of line
